A court awarded British million-
aire Jack Hayward $105,000 in libel damages from a London newspaper that ran articles implying he took part in an alleged murder plot with former Liberal party leader Jeremy Thorpe. After a four-day hearing, the London High Court ordered. the London Sunday Telegraph to pay Hayward the damages and costs estimated at $126,000. Thorpe and three others were cleared last June of charges they plotted to murder Norman Scott, a former male model who said he was once Thorpe's homosexual lover.
